01Our commitment
We aim for the site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Animation, video and interactive tools are designed so that nobody needs to see, hear or use a mouse to get the information or use the tools.
02What we’ve done
- Keyboard: every link, button, form control and tool works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline. A “Skip to content” link appears on the first Tab press.
- Screen readers: pages use headings, landmarks and labelled controls. Tool results are announced as they change. Videos and illustrations have text descriptions.
- Motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, scroll-linked animation, pinned scenes, page transitions and autoplaying video are turned off. You can also turn animation down (or back up) with the “Motion” control in the footer, on any device.
- Video: all video is silent and decorative. Autoplaying clips have a pause button, pause when off-screen, and don’t play when motion is reduced or your browser is in data-saver mode.
- Reading: body text is set at a comfortable size with line lengths of around 65 characters, and pages reflow on small screens and at 400% zoom without sideways scrolling.
- Colour: text meets AA contrast in both light and dark modes. Results in the tools use words as well as colour.
- Content is never hidden behind animation: reading text is available immediately, and the site works without JavaScript apart from the interactive tools.
03Known limitations
- Some illustrations contain small text labels. Each has a full text description, but the labels may be hard to read at default zoom on small phones.
- The horizontal gallery on the home page scrolls sideways on touch devices. All of its destinations are also listed in the Contents menu and on each page.
- The tools need JavaScript. Each tool’s page explains the same information in writing.
04Feedback
If you find a barrier, or need information in a different format, email info@baladanmeri.com. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and the device or assistive technology you use. We aim to reply within five working days.
05How we test
We check pages with keyboard-only navigation, automated accessibility checks, browser zoom, reduced-motion settings and rendering at phone, tablet and desktop widths. This statement will be reviewed whenever significant features are added.
